Annual Meeting Notes
The Annual Meeting of the WPCA was held on Wednesday, February 20th, at the Reston Community Center at Lake Anne. Below are the highlights of the meeting.
Craig Palmer was elected as the Director representing A-Block.
Carol Williams is trying to set up a contract to clean and inspect roofs. If anyone is interested in joining to lower the cost, please contact Carol at 703-437-4027.
Donna Shaffer invited attendees to sign a letter petitioning Reston Association to hold another referendum on the air conditioning covenant.
Several people spoke of the difficulty of finding someone to repair or replace the existing patio fences. If anyone has had recent success, please contact one of the Directors so that the information may be passed on. The Board will also look into alternative designs for the fencing.
If interested in joining the landscaping committee, please contact Jeanne West at (Gwesturns@aol.com).
The Monthly Meeting of the Board of Directors of the WPCA was held on Tuesday, March 4th, at the Reston Museum at Lake Anne. Below are highlights of the meeting.
The Directors met and elected the following officers for 2008:
President : Bryan Smith (BryanSmith@aol.com)
Vice President : Dick Wensell
Secretary : Suzanne Larne
Treasurer : Van Foster
Before calling for the tow company, residents are encouraged to contact Jeannie Cook, the LARCA site manager, at 703-471-6374 should any cars from Lake Anne residents be parked in our lots. These cars can be identified by a sticker on the bumper. She will contact the owners directly.
Conversely, we are also reminding our residents that we have about 1 ½ spaces per household and therefore parking etiquette is a must. On H, J, & K blocks, please utilize your numbered spots before occupying a free space. And, please use the upper lot instead of parking along a yellow curb or in the Heron House lot.
Ideas for identifying visiting cars of our residents are being discussed.
Lights
Research into repairing the non-functional lights along the lake wall behind A block is underway.
Trash
When trash doesn't get picked up, residents are encouraged to contact American Disposal Services at 703-368-0500 to inquire about pick up.
Bee Control
Spring is coming and so are the Carpenter Bees. A solution for managing these pests has been found at www.e-bug.net. The kits sold on this website contain a Drione dust to insert into the bee holes to treat the nests and an insecticide for spraying the fence to prevent future holes from being created. Also, corks are included for plugging the old holes.
Acknowledgment
The Board of Directors wishes to acknowledge and thank Van Foster for many years of service to the board especially in the capacity as President. We are also encouraged and thankful that Van has agreed to remain on as our Treasurer during this transition to a new board.
Board Meetings
To be held at 7:00 pm on every second Tuesday of the month. Next board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8th at the Reston Museum.
